Create a SP folder item Custom Activity?

Hello,

I am new to programming and I have created a SharePoint custom list in spreadsheet format. The list has three views.

One view is a list of all items that I need to convert into an archive. I am using Visual Studio 2005 workflow to create a custom activity. I would like the items to be organized in hierarchal format, like Windows Explorer, upon creation. The workflow should search for a folder with the same month and year and dropped the item in that folder. If the folder does not exist that it should be created and then the item should be dropped into the folder.

Is this feasible in SharePoint. What code do I use to create folder item types.

I'd be glad to help, but I don't understand sharepoint and workflow well enough to answer your question.
