Assignments and versions

Consider this scenario:

- I upload a scorm package (version 1) in the SLK enabled document library
- I assign the package to a student
- I upload a new version (version 2) of the same package in the library

Currently, it seems that the student still sees version 1 in his assignment.

Is there a way that I can "update" the content of an active assignment, or do I need to create a new assignment of the same content if I want the student to see version 2 of my content?

You need to create a new assignment if you want the student to see "version 2".

The reason for this is that with updates to SCORM content, it is possible for the data model (i.e. student response data) to get out of sync with the content itself if the content changes while the student is doing the assignment. Also, even with non-e-learning content, if updating content in the document library automatically updated the assignment content, then this could pose a security problem in some circumstances (e.g. user assigns a document to himself, then access to the doclib is revoked but user can still see all future updates to that document).
