SLK not available in CA > Application Managment

I've followed the Getting Started with SharePoint Learning Kit guide and followed the instructions under 3.2 Installing and Configuring SLK. However, in 3.2.2 Configure SLK, I do not see Configure SharePoint Learning Kit under SharePoint 3.0 Central Administration > Application Managment. I am trying to configure the SharePoint Learning Kit for my site collection. Is there something I am missing?

It probably didn't install correctly. Have a look under SharePoint 3.0 Central Administration | Operations | Solution Management | sharepointlearningkit.wsp and see if it is deployed or not and whether there are any errors.

If there's no obvious problem try retracting and deleting the solution, then re-installing.

Thanks. I'm currently on vacation, but will give it a try when I get into the office on Monday.

I have the SharePoint Learning Kit working now. I had some other things hung up in the queue which was preventing this from deploying.

Now I have moved on to the SharePoint Learning Kit Course Manager, which would not install. I get the following:

ERROR: SLK Version 1.3.1 is not installed.

ERROR: Course Manager could not be installed correctly.

Scratch that. Just did some more searching, and found the Course Manager is basically dead.

HI,

I'm having the same problem as described in the first post in this description: the Sharepoint Learning Kit Configuration section is not available in Central Administration. I've deployed the solution in a farm environment with two front-end web servers and this section is missing and I don't even see the Sharepoint Learning Kit Administration feature in Operations > Manage farm features. I installed the wsp in my development environment and everything worked fine.

Could you give me an hint about the solution to this problem?

Thanks for any suggestion.

It doesn't matter. I've solved the issue.

Dear giuseppec,

I'm facing the same problem now (which is installing SLK on a 3 front servers and one end server farm). The deployment was done successfully but no "Configure Sharepoint Learning Kit" ion central administration.

Would you please tell me what was the problem ? And how did you resolve it?

Thanks in advance.

Ahmad.

Hi Ahmad,

in my case CA was on a dedicated server (used for indexing as well) different from Front End web servers. When using CA, I was able to deploy the SLK solution just on the front end web servers but not on the server where CA was (the option "deploy the solution globally" was not available). As long as it is needed to deploy the solution on the server where CA is present, you have to deploy it manually using the stsadm tool directly on the server where the CA application is installed:

stsadm -o deploysolution -name your_solution_name.wsp -url http://your_CA_server:CA_port -allowgacdeployment

This command should install all the required assemblies needed for administering the SLK application on the CA server (with the expected section available in the CA).

Dear Giuseppe,

I really appreciate your help.
Actually I have the same farm structure you had. I have an indexing server and the CA is installed on it.

Now I got the "Configure Sharepoint learning Kit" section in CA. But unfortunately it doesn't work. It raises the following error when click on the configure link:

"Page Not Found . at System.Reflection.Assmbly._nLoad(AssmblyName fileName,String codeBase, Evidence assemblySecurity, Assembly locationHint, StachCrawlMark& stackMark, Boolean throwOnFileNotFound, Boolean forIntrospection)...etc"

Do you have any idea where this error come from? And any suggestions to resolve it?

Thanks in advance.

Ahmad.

Problem:
SharePoint Learning Kit Configuration is not available.

Environment:
SHAREPOINT machine: OS Windows 2003 and WSS 3.0 - SQL2005 machine - both machines are part of a Domain.
Logged on to SHAREPOINT machine as Domain Administrator

Documentation: using line documentation: 5. Configuring SLK
--Quote--
a. Open SharePoint Central Adminstation.
b. Open the SharePoint Learning Kit Configuration page which is under Application Management | SharePoint Learning

Kit Configuration | Configure SharePoint Learning Kit
If this page is not present on the page then enable the Farm level feature SharePoint Learning Kit Administration.
--End Quote--

SharePoint Learning Kit Configuration is not available.

Installation sequence:
AddSolution.cmd installed
UpdateSolutionNavigation.cmd installed
No errors when using advice from giuseppec
stsadm -o deploysolution -name SharePointLearningKit.wsp -url http://CA_URL:CA_Port -allowgacdeployment

SharePoint Environment:
CA -> Operations -> Manage Farm Features -> SharePoint Learning Kit Administration = Active
CA -> Operations -> Solution Management -> SharePointlearninglit.wsp = Deployed
CA -> Home -> Site Actions -> Site Settings -> Site Administration -- Site features ->
 Sharepoint Learing Kit = Active
SharePoint Learning Kit - Assign Self = Active
SharePoint Learning Kit - Assign to Site = Active
CA -> Operations -> Timer Job Status -- All Succeeded

Can you get to it via http://CA_URL:CA_Port/_admin/SharePointLearningKit/Configure.aspx ?

Feb 17, 2011 at 7:05 PM

Thank you RichardWillis for your speedy response.
The URL solution works!

Question:
How could I have discovered this solution myself?
or in other words:
Where do I find that ../sharepointlearingkit/configure.aspx is a valid url?

IIS - Microsoft SharePoint Administration URL points to:
 C:\Program Files\Common Files\Microsoft Shared\Web Server Extensions\50\isapi\_vti_adm
Which does not help.

Trying different URLs gives the following results:
http://sharepointserver:port -> CA - Home
http://sharepointserver:port/_admin -> The website declined to show this webpage
http://sharepointserver:port/_admin/default.aspx -> Error (sharepoint)
http://sharepointserver:port/_admin/sharepointlearningkit -> The website declined to show this webpage
http://sharepointserver:port/_admin/sharepointlearningkit/default.aspx -> Error (sharepoint)
http://sharepointserver:port/_admin/sharepointlearningkit/configure.aspx -> Successful (if one knows the existence)

Thank you Richard
Greetings

I have exactly the same problem, however I have noticed that not all Timer Job Status have succeeded.

The following have failed:

CEIP Data Collection

Office SharePoint Server CEIP Data Collection

SPContentDatabaseSequence Upgrade Job

Could this be causing the problem?  I have tried the URL and that also doesn't work.

Thanks a lot.

Edit**

I can now access the configure SLK through the CA but the link is broken?  "Website Cannot display the page"
