Will the SLK track content that is not assigned?

We are wondering if the SLK will track content that is not explicitly assigned to a learner?

For instance, rather than having to assign content to all users, can we have a static link to a piece content, have the user click that link to launch the player, interact with that content and have that interaction tracked in the SLK DB?

Yes. The self-assignment workflow isn't implemented in CTP1, but it will be part of SLK.

From a document library on a SLK-enabled site, learners will be able to access the E-learning Actions page. From this page they will be able to self-assign and launch the content.

The data model from the learner's attempt will be stored in the database. Also, the assignment will appear in the assignment list web part if the learner wants to access it in the future.

Ah, ok, that makes sense. So, the SLK will not track stuff that is not either assigned by a instructor or self-assigned. It has to be assigned by someone. Got it.
