Trying to create and test learning objects I had an error displaying their content:

The website cannot display the page
HTTP 500
Most likely causes:
The website is under maintenance.
The website has a programming error.

What you can try:
Refresh the page.

Go back to the previous page.

More information

This error (HTTP 500 Internal Server Error) means that the website you are visiting had a server problem which prevented the webpage from displaying.

For more information about HTTP errors, see Help.

Now it happens with all learning objects I have in my instructor’s library.
Also with the solitaire one, that at the beginning it will work fine.

It has showed the structure into the left frame, but not the content in the right one.

Please, is there a solution to this?

Many thanks.

It looks like 'NT AUTHORITY\NETWORK SERVICE' does not have sufficient permissions on the SQL data base. I'm not sure exactly how it got that way. Have there been any recent configuration changes? Does your setup differ at all from the getting started setup, or is your machine a domain controller?

I ran into this same error and had a slightly different setup than expected in the 'GettingStarted' instructions. Here is my setup:

Environment:
-Stand-alone installation
-Joined to a domain

Software:
-SQL Server 2005 Standard Edition
-WSS v3

I installed SQL Server 2005 Standard Edition followed by WSS v3. I kept getting this same error and checking the Windows Internal Database used by WSS v3 and my 'NT AUTHORITY\NETWORK SERVICE' account was a login with db_creator rights already. I finally realized that when I installed SQL Server 2005 Standard, I created ANOTHER database instance on the server, separate from the Windows Internal Database that comes default with WSS v3.

As a result, the SharePoint Learning Kit tried creating its database on the SQL Server 2005 Standard default instance and NOT the Windows Internal Database instance that comes with WSS v3. I then logged into the other instance and gave that local account db_creator rights and no longer received the error.

irenesto, this could be similar to what you're running into.

Thanks,
Ross
