What are the experiences with deploying SLK for a larger number of users (9000 users). Risks, options?

Recommended hardware configuration. SLK Settings

Thanks

Never have more than 1000 users in a site, you will have to split them. The server is not the problem, is the admin UI that is Postback heavy and with 9000 users in a single site will take almost two hours with 100% CPU to make changes to an assignment, for end users no problem, two regularly used MOSS front ends hold my customers 15,000 users with no problem. Do vote for the issue to change this postback model http://slk.codeplex.com/WorkItem/View.aspx?WorkItemId=19682

I have over 1200 users in my SharePoint site (WSS 3.0) and I dont have any issues.  I do have a rather beefy server for sharepoint and another just for SQL.  But you are rigth with wanting to split it up with 9,000 users.  That would probably freak the system out.  The only other way to do it would be to split the test into a few groups
